Dr. Straiko is an ophthalmologist who specializes in corneal, anterior segment and refractive surgery at the Devers Eye Institute in Portland Oregon. Dr. Straiko earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he graduated in the top 1% of his class. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Washington University in St. Louis and subsequently concluded his studies with a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the Devers Eye Institute in Portland Oregon. Dr. Straiko cared for patients in a high-volume private practice for one year prior to returning to the Devers Eye Institute to join Mark Terry in practice. Dr. Straiko is certified on the iFS femtosecond and VISX laser systems. His clinical and research interests involve corneal transplantation surgery including lamellar keratoplasty, keratoprosthesis implantation, and anterior segment reconstruction in addition to cataract surgery and other advanced surgical techniques.
